New EXCITING things are coming

This has been a very exciting time for me. It has always been a dream of mine to sew as a way to help out in our household. I posted on facebook earlier this summer about how I was dreaming of sewing full time, doing testing for designers and sewing samples as well. Well along came a great opportunity from Laura at Ellie Inspired. You can read more about this in her blog post here. So this is what has been on my mind the last week and we have gotten so much done already. Then came the Labor Day weekend, which is also my birthday. We had a great weekend and I even was able to get an updated picture of myself, being I have changed quite a bit in the last 6 months, with loosing over 30 pounds, it was nice to get that done. We tried to get some family pictures but those were not great.
And we got this one that I truly love as well
Now for this week, I am adding some new stuff to my etsy store every day, so be sure to check it out. Also remember if there is an Ellie Inspired pattern that you love but either don't sew or don't have time to sew, send me an email at organicmommy@gmail.com and we can see what we can work out.
This design was added to my shop today. Also this week I will be working on a tester and the fabric arrived today. It is from Sarah Jane Studios and it is so much fun. A little hint, its a boys pattern and this is the fabric I will be using!

A Ray of Stitches Giveaway

I know it has been a long time since I posted on the blog but I felt it was time to get back in here and keep you all updated.
This summer has been crazy busy and I honestly can't believe it is coming to an end. The kids had a great time spending time with friends, swimming, boating and even getting to spend time at Lake Okoboji this summer. However all good things must come to an end and school started the 16th of August. Way too early for moms pleasure but all in all it has been pretty good. They are returning to a good schedule and that seems to be working well for them.
I have spent a good deal of time working on getting my Sewing WAHM business back up and running and in doing so I have done a lot of pattern testing for another WAHM and lots of sewing for the kids. The girls had quite the collection to start school this year and it just keeps growing.
I thought a good way to kick it off would be to hold a giveaway since it is almost my birthday and all and who doesn't enjoy giving back to those around them.
You will have a chance to win your choice of either a Jazzy Skirt for your childs American Girl Doll or a Twirl Girl Dress for your child's American Girl Doll. Both of these come from patterns designed by Ellie Inspired, one of my favorite pattern designers of all time. And I will sweeten the pot a little, you will also have the choice to add a matching one for your child to wear so they can match their dolls at a discounted price. This will be made from fabric I have on hand after discussing with the winner your child's likes and favorite colors. You will be able to decide after the doll item is made if you want one for your child.
So how do you win you ask! Well you have a chance to enter by liking A Ray of Stitches on Facebook, Share the giveaway on your facebook page and bring the link back and post, and by posting a comment on the blog. a Rafflecopter giveaway

My Favorite thing about summer.....

I love flowers. I love to take pictures of flowers even more. Playing with my camera is one of the things that I do to pass time. The flowers and the garden are my saving grace and taking my camera with me just makes it even better.
Today I was playing with different settings and such on the camera while taking pictures of flowers. Look at some of these. I think I may need to have some of the printed out for on the wall to decorate in the house with!
This is my Columbine that is lavender and white, taken in both the chrome setting and the black and white setting!

And this is the Hydrangea

And some others that I think are just gorgeous! I love pansy's which shows in the flowers we planted for Mothers Day! There is also daisy's which I love as well.
I enjoy using the black and white setting on my camera, saves me time so then I don't have to use editing software to do it and I think the defination is so much better!

Rainbow Birthday (only a month behind)

Nevaeh turned 4 in March and her request was a RAINBOW birthday party. So that is what we did!
It was a lot of fun to get ready for the party since there is so much you can do with a rainbow.
We decided to have them finger paint a big picture to put on the wall for her. I got a rainbow of shirts for them to wear over their clothes and we embroidered the shirt for Nevaeh. They were so cute in all the shirts.

We went on a scavenger hunt and found pots of gold. The kids thought this was great.

We had a Rainbow cake with confetti Ice Cream. The cake turned out perfect even though the hubby thought it was going to be a muddled mess.

For the favors, we did a rainbow of sand buckets with rainbow colored bubbles, a twisty straw cup, some rainbow colored candy, a rainbow pinwheel and a unicorn shaped crayon with paper.
They had so much fun.
I honestly can't believe my little girl is 4 years old already. Where did the time go!
Here she is in all her 4 glory in the shirt I appliqued for her and the capris I made to go with it.

Playing in the mudd

The weather was nicer today and the kids NEEDED to get outside. So out they went in mud boots and coats and boy did they have fun, so much so the end result was a bath!
